The Smylies Team Raise Over £26,000 for Local Charities in 2021

At the beginning of 2021, Smylies committed to raising the bar when it came to charity fundraising throughout the year.  Our enthusiastic team took part in a range of challenges and activities, raising a huge £26,863.75 in total for 2021’s selected charities, Will’s Wish and Koala NW.

Our Managing Director, Chris Smylie, commented: “I’m incredibly proud and pleased of how much money the entire Smylies team has managed to raise over the course of 2021. It is a true mission of ours to give back to our community and support them wherever we can. The Smylies team has taken part in some incredibly exciting challenges and fundraising events to propel us to this position and we can only look to double down on our fundraising efforts in 2022.”

Charity Fundraising Highlights 2021

Over the course of 2021 there were plenty of activities and fundraisers that the Smylies team eagerly got stuck into. From Bungee Jumping , to 10km runs, abseiling and more, check out our charity fundraising highlights below:

  • Tough Mudder – 13 members of the Smylies family took on the Tough Mudder challenge in the warmer months of 2021. The 10 mile event included25 obstacles, requiring plenty of determination and endurance from our team to complete it.
  • Tour De Mon – Smylies’ directors, Chris and Alex, travelled to the island of Anglesey last August to complete the 172km cycling sportive. The weather was on their side and the pair completed the event in just under 8 hours.
  • Charity Golf Day – In the autumn of 2021, Smylies hosted the annual Charity Golf Day at Caldy Golf Club, where a number of local businesses were invited to get involved in the fun and raise money for our chosen charities. In total, the event raised an impressive £3,700 , with guests receiving a two course meal the opportunity to enter a raffle and other competitions throughout the day.

Smylies’ 2021 Chosen Charities

Koala NW is a charity based in the North West of England that is committed to offering emotional practical support to children as well as their families to reduce isolation and increase their overall well-being.

Will’s Wish was founded by a member of the Smylies’ staff, George Falck, in memory of his brother who died of cancer. The charity was established to offer young adult cancer suffers the opportunity to take part in experiences of their choice to escape their daily life of cancer treatments.

George Falck commented: “From a personal point of view, for 5 years I have wanted to setup a local small charity foundation for my brother and because of the entire Smylies team, we are able to make this happen!”
