This autumn, Smylies welcomed a wealth of guests to our Charity Golf Day at Caldy Golf Club, one of the North West’s most prestigious golf courses, to raise funds for our two chosen charities Will’s Wish and Koala NW.
The successful golfing fundraiser resulted in a fantastic sum of £3,700 being raised in total. Our Sales Director, Alex Smylie, commented: “A great day was had by all that took part and we’re extremely grateful to those who helped make the day such a success, along with their generous donations.”
Taking place at the Birkenhead based golf course, plenty of fun was had a long the way, with The Energy Hub walking away as the overall winner. On arrival, guests were met with refreshments such as soup and sandwiches, before making their mark on the golf course. Throughout the day, both guests and Smylies staff enjoyed a two course meal and were offered the opportunity to enter a raffle, as well as other competitions to raise extra funds for our selected charities.
Koala NW is a UK charity based in the North West of England, dedicated to providing children and their families with both practical and emotional support. Their work offers a tailored approach that reduces isolation, improves well-being and ultimately gives children and their care-givers the tools needed to thrive.
Will’s Wish offers young adult cancer suffers in the Merseyside region an opportunity to escape their daily routine of cancer treatments by selecting an experience of their choice. The newly established charity, based in the Wirral, was co founded by Smylies team member, George Falck.
Our Charity Golf Day is only one of many charity fundraising events that have taken place in 2021. Smylies director’s Chris and Alex, took part in the Tour De Mon, held on the island of Anglesey, Wales. Other fundraising events included marathons, duathlons, abseiling and the highly anticipated Tough Mudder! As we head into the latter months of 2021, the Smylies team has even more charitable events on the horizon, so watch this space.
