Throughout 2017, the Smylies team raised £17,000 for charity, and we hope to continue our good work into the new year!
In 2017, we selected Pensbywood Centre as our Community Project and throughout the year raised just under £14,000 for Wirral Evolutions, a pioneering service that provides support for adults with profound learning disabilities.
Raising money for our chosen charities
Our contribution allowed the centre to install a new state of the art interactive floor and wall projection system including a Sensory Fun Suite. Christine Rothwell, Manager of Pensbywood Centre, said: “Now people who access Pensbywood are enjoying new sensory experiences, with the aid of interactive projectors which support their health and wellbeing.”
“We are very thankful to Smylies for their fabulous support and dedication to Pensbywood and Wirral Evolutions.”
We have selected three other charities to support in 2018: CALM (dedicated to preventing male suicide), FRIENDS (arranging support for families with disabled children) and CLIC Sargent on behalf of The Will Falck Memorial Fund. CLIC Sargent provides support for young adults affected by cancer and their families.
As of November 2017, £3,000 has already been raised between the three causes through staff participation in internal fundraisers including Smylies BBQs, fancy dress days and raffles.
A team from Smylies even completed the Wirral Triathlon, representing our own brand crisps The King’s Deli.
This total is set to keep growing throughout 2018 with lots of staff fundraising activities in the pipeline already, such as half marathons and mountain climbs.
“It was fantastic to see the renovations at Pensbywood and know that Smylies’ support made it possible. We’re looking forward to finding new ways to raise even more money in 2018, partnering with causes that are close to the teams’ heart and giving back to the local community” says George Falck, Smylies’ Business Manager.
