2021 saw a huge effort from the entire Smylies team, raising an enormous sum of £26,863 for our nominated charities, Will’s Wish and Koala North West. Nonetheless, in 2022 we’re looking to continue our successful fundraising streak as we move our charity focus to our chosen charities of 2022.
Over the course of 2022, the Smylies team will be taking on a wealth of challenges and holding charity events to help raise money.
Selecting our charities for the year ahead is never a decision we come to very quickly at Smylies, as we are acutely aware of the abundance of worthy charitable causes up and down the UK. After a lot of consideration and deliberation, this year Smylies has chosen The Martin Gallier Project as our nominated charity of 2022.
Dedicated to supporting families across the North West – The Martin Gallier Project is a non-clinical suicide support centre based in New Ferry, Wirral. It is the only suicide intervention, prevention and postvention service in the North West of England. The charity supports individuals experiencing suicidal crisis and also offers training for Suicide Intervention. A vital part of The Martin Gallier Project is that it can be accessed without barriers such as waiting lists.
Not only does The Martin Gallier Project spend a significant amount of time raising awareness, they’re also committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide, as they actively open up the conversation around suicide in the local community and beyond.
In conjunction with our fundraising for Smylies’ nominated charity of 2022, we will continue to support The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, one of the UK’s leading cancer centres.
The Smylies team has also planned a walk up Mount Snowdon, this Spring, in memory of our dearly missed friend and colleague, Kasia.
If you would like to support Smylies with any of our upcoming fundraising events over 2022, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to find out how you can do this.
