Food and drink exports pass £20 billion

Statistics released by the Food and Drink Federation show that in 2016, the total exports of food and drink rose to £20bn, a 10.5% increase on the previous year. This was the 16th year of consecutive growth and experts are hoping this trend continues in 2017, despite the uncertainty surrounding Brexit negotiations.

British produce is exported all over the world with products seeing an increased import rate in France, Germany and Ireland in particular. Exports to the USA rose by 13% whilst China continues to be the fastest growing market, up 51.1%.
